When you think of stock does your brain automatically go to the not so bang for your buck boxes of stock/broth at the grocery store? Mine use to, not anymore. We make our own bone broth because we like feeling like we’re getting the most for our money.

Garden Update #2

Echoing inside our heads we prepare to lay siege on our own backyard. Contemplating the destruction of the entire garden, at this point if we can’t have it- no one will!
The Cucumber Beetle is a formidable opponent. Raising blood pressure and potentially taking years off of our lives.
We. Will. Win.

Spanish rice- known affectionately by the Spaniards simply as rice- is an inexpensive way to fill the bellies of hungry children and adults alike.

Popular throughout northern Europe, the crepe has been served for years in one form or another.
This thin crispy pancake stuffed sweet with fruits and cream or filled with savory ingredients.
The crepe crazy people of the world sing it’s praises from Japan to the Americas.
Getting dirty for a good sauce.
How weird is it that the way people use to eat was to provide it for themselves? What would the world do without grocery stores and every food imaginable at their finger tips? If all of the grocery stores stopped having their shipments brought to them how long would your family last with just what you have on hand? It’s the worrywart Mom in me that makes me ask these seemingly doom and gloom questions. This isn’t the reason why most of us start a garden. For us it’s all about reconnecting to the earth and also cutting grocery bill costs. Over the last couple of days our green beans have been sprouting up and it’s been so cool to watch.
