A few months ago we took on a special project for some close friends of ours. They had a dining set that had been with the family for some time. After talking for a while we decided it would be fun to do this for them. Updating the look by doing a dual finish of painted and stained wood.
We stripped off the old finish down to raw wood. We sanded everything, paying extra attention to the areas that would be stained.
Our friends really liked the idea of a dark walnut stain on all of the seat pads and the table top. Everything else would be finished in a stark white matte paint.
After several coats of paint and stain we applied 4 separate coats of clear polyurethane to protect the stained wood. For the painted wood we used a special wax. This will ensure that it’s not only a beautiful dining set, but also one that’s up to the task of family life.
We had a ton of fun on this project and are extremely proud of the final product!
This dining room set is beautiful and is sure to enjoy meals with the family for years to come.
oh that is simply beautiful!
Thank you!
